(Memphis) Ann Murrell and others are outraged a gunman shot one of their neighbors right in front of their homes.
“These guns are in the hands of people who have no regard and no respect for life and something needs to be done about it,” Murrell said.
The shooting happened inside a gated community on Flowering Peach Road near Cambridge Station Court.
“He’s an (expletive). He’s going to shoot him from the back. That’s (expletive),” Murrell said,.
Neighbors say for the past few days they remember seeing a stranger hanging out here wearing a blue hat, white shirt and a black jacket, but he hasn’t been seen since.
“He was sitting there. He was sitting right there posted it up like he’s getting paid to kill somebody,” Murrell said.
Today, that stranger gunned down a neighbor they called “Red.”
They said “Red” never bothered anybody.
“The guy he shot, I see him everyday. He just walks to the store. He rides and I am walking. He goes to get lotto tickets and he goes right back to his house,” Murrell said.
Neighbors such as Anthony Wooten can’t believe someone would want to harm their friend.
“Man, this is an innocent dude. My mom is right over there crying because this man got shot for no reason,” Wooten said.
As police search for answers about the shooting, neighbors like Ann Murrell are demanding answers and calling for an end to violence that hits so close to home.
“The killing needs to stop,” Murrell said.
