MEMPHIS, Tenn. — People living in two East Memphis neighborhoods were on edge after burglars broke into two homes about a mile apart, in the middle of the day.
The first break-in Tuesday happened in the 5400 block of Collingwood and the second at a home in the 800 block of Eaton.
Neighbors on Eaton heard the thieves break a window to get into the home and were able to capture video of them loading items into a black Mercedes E-Class.
They might have even spooked the burglars.
At one point during the video you can hear one of them say “let’s go” and the other man accidentally hit the car horn before they took off.
The thieves took electronics and jewelry from the homes.
A woman who lives at the home on Eaton didn’t want to be identified, but said the thieves stole a laptop full of her granddaughter’s baby pictures.
“I feel so violated to know strangers were in my home going through my things that I worked hard for,” said the victim.
Police were able to connect the two burglars together because the crooks dropped a jewelry store receipt taken from the house on Collingwood in the driveway of the house on Eaton.
