(Guntown, MS) The FBI believes Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain are alive and with their kidnapper Adam Mayes. Mayes is also accused of killing their mother, Jo Ann, and older sister, Adrienne.
Just yards away from Mayes’ rented trailer troopers have set up a road checkpoint. They’re checking every car that comes through here on Highway 9.
The FBI says they’ve conducted over 100 interviews, and leads from those tips along with evidence keep bringing them back to these Union County woods.
A neighbor describes the woods behind Mayes’ trailer as very and full of hunting camps. The dense woods run all the way to New Albany, and dog teams were out searching Thursday.
Leland Hurt Lives at the edge of those woods and says town officials are telling them to stay vigilant.
“First off telling people this is going on and to keep your doors locked and that sort of thing,” said Hurt.
Hurt says the mystery of where Mayes is has them all on the edge.
“It’s just been kind of a scary time for rural north Mississippi. You don’t think of that here,” said Hurt.
Leads are taking them to the woods around Mayes’ house, but they say he could be anywhere in the country and are asking for all tips to be called in to 1-800-TBI-FIND.
