CORDOVA, Tenn. — The man who shot and killed a woman Saturday in a Cordova neighborhood is still on the run.
People who live in the Walnut Grove Lake Subdivision were still looking for answers Monday.
According to police, Susan McDonald was visiting a friend in the 8400 block of Bazemore Road when she was gunned down outside the home.
So far, investigators have not released a description of the shooter or a motive.
“I heard the gun shots,” John Ford said.
Ford, who was out walking his dog Monday in the neighborhood, said at the time he didn’t know it was gunfire. Like many in the subdivision, he said he was wondering if the woman murdered was followed to the home by someone she knew or if it was a random attack.
“That’s what has everyone tense, and we are waiting for you to find out ,” Russ Lewis said.
We were told this could be related to other driveway robberies in the area.
Police incident reports, though, show just a handful of crimes within a half mile of the neighborhood over the last six months. Most are thefts, and two are aggravated assaults.
Neighbors said they are taking extra steps to protect themselves.
“No one wants to come in my house. That’s probably all I should say I’m prepared,” Lewis said.
Neighbors said a black car was seen leaving the neighborhood after the shooting.
