NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Department of Veterans Affairs has appointed a new Acting Director of the Memphis VA Medical Center.

On February 29, William “Bill” Mills will take over as the Acting Director of the hospital.

According to the Department of Veterans Affair, the recent under performance at the center forced them to make the change.

“As a former Tennessean, Bill brings a wealth of operational and administrative experience,” said John Patrick, Director, VA Midsouth Healthcare Network. “He has the right skill set to improve our operations in Memphis and ensure Veterans receive the quality and timely care they deserve.”

C. Diane Knight, MD, will be sent to Nashville to serve as the Primary Care Service Line Chairperson.

Congressman Steve Cohen released the following statement on the leadership change:

“I would like to thank Dr. Knight for her service to the Memphis VA,” said Congressman Cohen. “I look forward to working with Acting Director Dr. William “Bill” H. Mills and hope that his operational and administrative experience will bring the quality of care that Memphis veterans deserve.”
