(West Memphis, AR) There are shocking new allegations in the West Memphis murders of three cub scouts almost twenty years ago.
Prosecutors say those responsible were already convicted, but now an attorney claims he knows who really did it.
An attorney for one of the victim’s mother dropped the bombshell in court today that she believes her ex-husband Terry Hobbs took part in the killings.
The hearing was to allow the victim’s parents to see all the evidence in the case.
During the hearing the attorney filed a motion and brief with the court.
In the court document the attorney said new witnesses shed new light on what may have happened to the three West Memphis boys on May 5th 1993.
“The truth is right here,” Mark Byers said.
Byers’ son was one of three boys murdered.
He believes the truth of what happened to his son Christopher, Steve Branch and Michael Moore is in an affidavit from a man named Bennie Guy.
Guy claims there were four people involved in the murders and two of them confessed to him.
He said Buddy Lucas confided in him nearly a year after the murders.
“I asked what did you do? He then said, me L G Hollingsworth and two men, we was there with them boys. We did it.”
He said he didn’t tell anyone because he “didn’t want the boy to get into trouble for something i could not believe he had done.”
Fast forward a year.
Guy ended up in a Crittenden County Jail cell with Hollingsworth.
He claims he told Hollingsworth that Buddy had told him all about the murders.
That’s when Guy said Hollingsworth went into great detail about the gruesome killings he committed with Buddy, Terry Hobbs and David Jacoby.
Guy said, Hollingsworth told him the day the boys died, he and Buddy jumped into a truck with Terry Hobbs and David Jacoby to get drugs.
He said the four were drinking and getting high near the Blue Beacon Wood.
Then “right before the sun started to set the three boys on two bicycles surprised them.”
He said Hobbs shouted, “get them boys.”
The boys, he said, were caught and beaten.
Guy said Hollingsworth said Hobbs had the boys take their off their pants. He said “Mr. Hobbs took a knife and reached underneath cutting” the boys genitals.
The boys were then dumped in a ditch.
Guy claims he later contacted the prosecutor and a detective about the case, but he said
no one ever got back to him.
Now he said he’s coming forward because he “wants the parents of the little boys to know what really happened to their children.”
Mr. Jacoby was in court Wednesday. He told News Channel 3,” There’s no evidence against me. I’ve done nothing wrong.”
We also reached out to Terry Hobbs for comment, but he was not home.
