NASHVILLE, Tenn. — New rules are set to go into effect at the beginning of the year concerning when you have to renew your driver license in the state of Tennessee.
Legislation passed this year changed the process from having to be complete every five years to every eight years, reported WRCB.
The Associated Press reported the changes take effect on Monday.
Anyone who is up for renewal in 2016 will be the first to have the new rules applied to them.
The Department of Safety and Homeland Security said the change includes all classifications of driver licenses and identification licenses, including commercial and motorcycle licenses.
It’s hoped the new process will alleviate congestion at the state’s driving centers.
