NEW YORK — Four months and five days after being suspended for the roles they played in Deflategate, Patriots employees John Jastremski and Jim McNally have both been reinstated.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that the league has granted both men permission to return to work.

“Last week, the New England Patriots requested the reinstatement of both John Jastremski and Jim McNally,” the NFL said in a statement. “The Patriots have satisfied the league’s requirements for reinstatement and the league has granted permission for the employees to return.”

It’s still unclear who actually suspended the two men: The NFL says the Patriots made the decision to suspend them. However, the Patriots said they only suspended McNally and Jastremski because the league asked them too.

The Boston Globe reported on Monday that both men will likely return to the team in new roles. McNally, who you might remember as “The Deflator,” previously served as the Patriots’ locker-room attendant, while Jastremski served as an equipment assistant.

Both men were originally suspended on May 11.

The only punishment still standing from Deflategate is the one given to New England and the Patriots aren’t expected to challenge their punishment. The team was fined $1 million and docked two draft picks — a 2016 first-round pick and a 2017 fourth-round pick — for the part the NFL believes they played in Deflategate.
