MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department Organized Crime Unit have arrested 22 people as part of a massive drug roundup.
An undercover OCU officer and an informant were used to infiltrate the Gangster Disciples, a gang accused of selling large amounts of heroin and cocaine near Riverside Drive and Walker Homes.
Investigators seized thousands of dollars in cash, 203 kilos of cocaine valued at over $6 million, heroin, seven guns and ten vehicles that were allegedly used to transport the drugs.
According to police, the gang was involved in everything from selling the drugs to committing violent crimes in the area.
In addition, they allegedly used Greyhound buses and even the U.S mail to transport the drugs into the city.
So far, 22 people have been indicted on drug charges.
Nineteen of those are Gangster Disciples, and one is an LMG.
