MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Shelby County Office of Preparedness announced they are looking for a few good reserves.

“The Office of Preparedness has a hard-working 10-person staff, working diligently year-round to keep our county ready and spread the message of preparedness. Our Reserves allow us to stretch our staff – gives us extra hands and feet to accomplish our goals. We are looking to add enthusiastic, interested citizens to our team. If you have the heart to volunteer, join us as a Reserve,” said Director Dale Lane.

According to the news release, volunteers can serve in two main areas with the group: Shelby Cares or SCOP.

Shelby Cares Reserves are trained to help the office with the day-to-day business of feeding, housing and caring for those displaced during hurricane season.

The Shelby County Office of Preparedness,  or S.C.O.P, Reserves work with the Community Emergency Response Team.

Reserves in this area present and then hand out preparedness information throughout the community.
