Officer Lang’s Daughter Thanks Community

(Memphis) Seeing more than 300 people attend a benefit concert for her and her sisters, the oldest daughter of fallen officer Martoiya Lang said she was grateful for the tremendous support.

People packed the New Hope Baptist Church in South Memphis Friday night for a concert of gospel music. More than $5,000 was donated by attendees, and more than $14,000 was donated by local organizations.

Officer Lang’s husband encouraged their oldest daughter, Taylour Lang, to say a few words to News Channel 3.

“I’m feeling a lot of support from everybody. I knew how I felt about my mom, but I didn’t know there were this many people,” she said.

14-year-old Taylour said she and her sisters are doing ok, even though they’ve had their tough moments. She said they’re encouraging each other as they cope with their loss.

Describing her mother, she said, “I just love everything about my mom. She just always tried to take care of me and my sisters. She’s always put us first. And I’m just thankful to have had a mother like that.”

While it’s never easy to sing and dance after such a loss, she said they did feel better with the energy of the professional gospel artists who gave their time for the benefit.

At the end of the night, in learning they collected more than $20,000, Taylour Lang said, ” I couldn’t do anything but smile, because I just want to make sure my sisters are took care of.”
