Officer Was Going 94 MPH Just Before Fatal Crash

(Memphis) Almost eight months after a deadly crash, we now know how fast a former Memphis police officer was driving when he collided with another car and two people died.

An internal affairs report shows Alex Beard was driving 94 miles an hour in a 40 mile an hour zone.

His speed was reduced to 64 mph when he hit a car in August 2012.

The crash happened at Crump and Walnut.

Mackala Ross, 13, and her mother Delores Epps died in the crash.

Two other people were injured.

Beard was fired by the Memphis Police Department.

The District Attorney’s office is still deciding if charges will be filed.
