MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are actively patrolling South Memphis on Wednesday, looking for a man they believe might have raped three women.
“He tell me to ‘Come here,’ and I kept on,” South Memphis resident Venice Jerry said.
She believes she could have been the fourth victim. She said the alleged serial rapist has tried to pick her up before.
In each of the three cases, investigators said the man had a gun.
“I knew when I seen the news, that little red car been seen around here,” Jerry said.
She said she knows one of the alleged victims. So does neighbor Willie Moore, and he said it turns his stomach.
“She told me she got raped, told me what kind of car it was, a Magnum,” Moore said.
Police reported the suspect’s car is a maroon or dark burgundy Dodge Magnum station wagon.
Earlier in October, a woman told police a man raped her in her apartment. He abducted her and robbed her near Clarke Road and Pathway Circle.
The same day, a woman said she was abducted while walking near McLemore Avenue and Lamar Avenue. She said a man raped her in his car.
Almost two weeks later, police said a woman was abducted while walking near McLemore and Orleans Street around 2:30 a.m.
In each case, the man’s description was the same.
“After 7 o’clock, I be in the house,” South Memphis resident Polly Ann Parker said.
Several neighbors reported seeing the suspect or his car at some point.
The suspect is in his mid-20s or early 30s. He is between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7. Police said he has a stocky build and a high top fade haircut. He has been seen in a racing jacket with the M&M emblem.
