NEW ORLEANS — Ole Miss cheerleaders got everyone fired up during a pep rally in the French Quarter. Rebel pride was almost everywhere you turned.
“We’ve made all games home and away this year, so we couldn’t pass up this, the Sugar Bowl, said Justin Odom of Collierville.
He and his five-and-half-year-old son Walker are experts on the team this year.
“They won almost every game,” said Walker.
Fans from both Ole Miss and Oklahoma State cheered side-by-side at a Mardi Gras-style parade.
Ole Miss hasn’t played in a Sugar Bowl since 1970.
“A buddy of mine is president of the Sugar Bowl, he got us the tickets, he says hell has frozen over for you,” said Joe Getz of East Memphis.
The game kicks off Friday night at the Superdome.
