Olympus will invest in Bartlett bringing nearly 300 jobs

BARTLETT, Tenn. — A company that specializes in medical devices will build a facility in Bartlett and bring hundreds of new jobs.

Olympus said it will be a service and distribution center with nearly 300 new jobs.

People in the medical field said it`s encouraging to see this.

“Being in the medical field myself, I think growth like that is going to be positive anyway,” said Gary Panzer.

Olympus currently has manufacturing and office space and they’re expanding on an empty lot at the corner of U.S Highway 64 and Appling.

They said construction could start this spring.

The company will be a service center for products used by medical professionals.

Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce said the company chose to come here for a variety of reasons.

“This operation in Bartlett will be a service center for those products that are used by medical professional around the country,” said John Thread Gill; president of The Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce.

FedEx was also an attraction.

“The company just recently set a goal that they will have 24 hour turn around on these products, so in order to meet that goal, they need to be in a spot where they can get products out quickly and the turnaround time can be made quickly,” he said.

Threadgill said the economic impact will be huge, and that’s a testament of what they`re trying to do locally.

A spokesperson for the corporate office told WREG Olympus also chose Bartlett because the workforce is ideal for its high-tech medical business.

This is a $12 million dollar investment.
