MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thousands of shoppers have already lined up for those door busters and special buys for Black Friday, which in some cases started on Thursday, or even earlier, depending on where you shop.

If you’re not one of them, don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to save.

Online shopping expert Brent Shelton of Fatwallet.com says this new method of month long deals, can equal a strategy for consumers to keep more cash in their pockets.

Shelton told WREG, “Now that they’re spreading it out, the consumer has a little bit of time to make some comparisons and hopefully make a smarter purchase.”

Online sales are already live and some retailers have announced plans for Cyber Monday.

Shelton says expect bigger bargains at brand specific stores.

“Especially the smaller branded stores like Levi’s, Puma, Addidas, those kind of stores we’re going to see 40 to 60 percent off, maybe storewide. So, if you’re going to shop at those stores it might be a good idea to wait until Cyber Monday.”

Will those good deals last throughout December?

Shelton says that really depends on how much consumers shop over the weekend.

He says one buy that’s always worth the wait…gift cards.

“As we get closer to Christmas, we’ll see discounts on gift cards, so you might buy a $100 gift card for $80.”

In general, Shelton says if you see a good deal over the weekend, snag it, especially hot items.

No matter when you shop, let technology save you time and money.

“If they’ve got a certain store that they like, download the app. If you already have the app, update that app, so you have all the latest bells and whistles and then turn on notifications, there’s probably a coupon waiting for you.”
