GMF faces court citation for bed bug infestation at Serenity Towers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Global Ministries Foundation has yet another case in Shelby County Environmental Court.

This time, it’s for the code violations cited for a bed bug infestation at Serenity Towers.

The entire team of inspectors at Code Enforcement conducted a sweep at the senior high-rise back in February.

The final report revealed inspectors found active bed bugs in more than 130 units/locations, plus other violations.

A spokesperson for Public Works said GMF was issued the citation after Code Enforcement conducted its re-inspection, and found that less than 51% of the violations had been corrected.

According to Code Enforcement’s policies and procedures, at least 51% of the violations must be corrected at the time of re-inspection in order to be considered “in compliance”.

Officials with Code Enforcement say at this point, Serenity is about 90% in compliance.

The citation was originally issued on April 6th. The Serenity case is up for its first compliance hearing in Environmental Court on May 25th.

GMF and LEDIC go back to court for Warren, Tulane and Goodwill on May 12th.
