MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of an overnight house fire in the Cherokee neighborhood.

The fire started just before 1 a.m. in the 3000 block of McCool Ave. near Semmes St.

Firefighters say they had to rescue one person from inside the burning home.

The victim was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

A neighbor told WREG that her home was recently set on fire — but so far, investigators haven’t determined whether this fire was arson.
