SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — One person was rushed to the hospital early Thursday morning after a shooting in Southaven.
It happened at Shelby Apartment Homes on Highway 51 before 8 a.m.
When officers with the Southaven Police Department arrived on the scene they found one shooting victim. That person was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Neighbors told WREG’s Quametra Wilborn the community is normally peaceful and for many it was shocking to hear about the violence happening in their own backyard.
“No beef is worth losing your life or taking someone else’s life,” said one neighbor.
Police have not released many details, but residents said the victim was visiting the complex when someone knocked on the front door.
“He came outside and as soon as he came outside, they shot him.”
There were reportedly three gunshots.
Police did not release any suspect information. If you know anything call authorities.
