MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person was rushed to the hospital after gunfire erupted in a quiet neighborhood in southwest Memphis overnight.

According to police, a 21-year-old man was shot on Deerskin Drive around 10 p.m. Wednesday. He’s expected to be okay.

People in the neighborhood told WREG’s Melissa Moon they didn’t know who the victim is or why he was shot.

It’s the last thing they expected in their neighborhood.

“Yeah, because we don’t usually hear nothing like that. You can sit out. We sit out in the evening me and my wife. You don’t hear all that. It’s quiet.”

Police haven’t said if this was a drive-by shooting, but said the suspects were in a silver Dodge truck.
