MEMPHIS, Tenn. — At least two suspects are on the run this morning after opening fire inside a First Tennessee Bank during an robbery Monday afternoon.
Witnesses told police two men barged into the Brooks Road location and shot the security guard. They grabbed money from the cash drawer and fled the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Malibu.
Original reports indicated three individuals were involved in the robbery, but the Memphis Police Department only discussed two suspects in a report later that day.
While the suspects are still at large, police were able to recover evidence down the road at the Bent Tree Apartments. Specific details on what that evidence was has not been released.
However, police say one of the suspects in Monday’s incident is likely connected to another attempted robbery at a First Tennessee Bank on Saturday. In that case the bank teller was given a note demanding money, but when he or she hit the panic alarm the suspect took off.
Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 5’11”, 170 lbs., early 30s, wearing a gray hat, burgundy glasses, gray hoodie with a zipper, black shorts over blue jeans with red legs, and white shoes.
Suspect #2 is described as a black male, 5’08”, 165 lbs., wearing a gray hat, sunglasses, black jacket with a zipper, white T-shirt, black pants, and black shoes.
No arrests have been made.
The officer that was shot was rushed to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
