All across the nation, retailers and communities haven chosen to do away with the Confederate flag.
However, many online companies have adds for merchandise that some said promote hate.
WREG got reactions from giants like Amazon and eBay that sell Nazi memorabilia.
If you head to those sites, you will be hard pressed to find a Confederate flag.
“Some people get agitated when they see it,” one man, Eric Townsend said. “It doesn’t matter to me, as long as we get together as Americans, black and white.”
In a statement, eBay told WREG it does not sell items that promote hate or racial intolerance.
It also directed us to a list of banned items, such as uniforms and books written by Nazi leaders like Adolf Hitler.
However, in less than two minutes, we found items like an original version of Hitler’s “Mein Kampf.”
“It’s just the wrong time for any racial tension,” Townsend said, shaking his head.
Most people said, while they do not agree with what symbols like the swastika stand for, people have a right to free speech, and they recognized the difference between historical value and hate.
“I don’t protest against nobody about what they represent as long as it doesn’t do me any bodily harm,” Townsend said. “It’s a new generation. We’re moving up, not back.”
