Online registration for Oxford Nutrition Program opens Wednesday

OXFORD, Miss. — Parents who want to apply their children for the Oxford School District Child Nutrition Program will be able to apply online starting Wednesday, July 1.

This is the first year that the application is entirely online; in the past, parents filled out paper applications.

“The new online application offers our parents an easy yet safe, private and readily available application process,” said OSD Child Nutrition Director Tim Howington. “Parents can use the online application anytime and from anywhere they have access to an Internet connection.”

Children whose parents do not fill out the form will not be allowed to participate in the program during the school year even if that child participated the previous year.

The reason for the move is simple; the new process allows school officials to receive the form faster and process it quicker.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:

• The new online Free and Reduced Lunch Program Application is also part of the upcoming school year’s online school registration process. Parents can complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Program Application and their children’s online school registration process all at once.

• When submitting the online application, parents need to make sure they receive a confirmation number and save it in their personal records. Later, parents will use this number to find out the status of their children’s online application.

• If parents need one-on-one help with the online application process, they can call the OSD Child Nutrition Program office at (662) 234-3541 and make an appointment for assistance in filling out the online application.

• Parents or families who do not have access to a personal computer or Internet connection can access free computer use at the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library, which is open to the public.
