Halliburton tower catches many students and visitors eyes. As they walk and admire many of the
other beautiful architecture and presence on the Rhodes College campus. Recently, awarded the most beautiful campus by the Princeton Review.
It serves as a reminder to many on the campus that there is more to be accomplished in this life. Mary Kathrine Crowell, senior and student trustee, finds her self ending there often.
“Sometimes when I’m feeling bogged down in the moment. I’ll walk to Fisher Garden, and go to see the plaque. Just to remind myself that things are going to be okay and adventure is to be had,” said Crowell
Halliburton was an adventure in the 1900s that rode elephants, swam the Panama canal, to spending a night
on the great pyramid. Getting lost at sea, on a journey from China to San Francisco, at the age of 39. Halliburton was someone who found joy in the journey.
His parents donated the tower after he died.
“The campus has affected the students by making us feel like a stronger community.” said Crowell. Emphasizing the fact that community is tight knit and find them self often very occupied with their own adventures around campus.
With a campus that has a high academic rigor. Student Dj Coker said,
“Coming outside and seeing such a beautiful campus it just makes you feel more comfortable.”
