MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Over the counter birth control may become reality in Tennessee if two state lawmakers have their way, but not everyone is on board.
State Senators Steven Dickerson, a Republican, and Jeff Yarboro, a Democrat, are working on separate versions of legislation.
They’re hoping to make it easier for women 18 and older to get contraceptives from pharmacists in addition to doctors who already write prescriptions for birth control.
The legislation is expected to be introduced in the next couple of weeks.
