MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A crew that was filming a network television pilot in downtown Memphis experienced some drama of their own when a storm damaged part of their set early Monday morning.
Officials say high winds caused several tents to collapse at Front Street and Beale Street. One of the tents was being used for hair and makeup, and another was being used for food service.
Eric Proveaux, owner of Fuel Cafe, is doing all the catering for the film crew while they’re in town. He says some of his small kitchen items were in one of the large tents that blew down. “The main thing is the food trucks are okay. The generators are okay. Nobody got hurt,” he said. In fact, his employees wasted no time putting up a new tent and preparing breakfast for the cast and crew. “We’re still going to be on time. Hot food for this crew, and I don’t think they’ll miss a beat either.”
Winds up to 30 mph also knocked down several smaller tents and toppled a tree near Front and MLK.
“It’s really always an adventure doing this, and you never know what you are going to get into in the morning,” Proveaux said.
There’s no word on the cost of all of the damage. The film crew is expected to be in Memphis for a few more days.
