Overton Park Conservancy, Memphis Zoo still working to figure out parking situation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — To park or not to park; that is the question and pretty soon, Zoo visitors are going to want answered.

Thursday is the last day of mediation for the Memphis Zoo and Overton Park Conservancy when it comes to the parking issue that have made headlines for the past couple of weeks.

Both parties are being tight lipped.

They said they’re not ready to talk publicly until Mayor Jim Strickland is ready to talk.

People WREG spoke to said they hope both sides will figure it out soon so they can put this issue to rest.

So far, both parties agreed to allow overflow parking on the Greensward until they could come up with a long term solution.

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland gave them until Thursday to come up with a deadline for mediation, but Tina Sullivan with the Conservancy said both parties have not reached a solution.
