OXFORD, Miss. — On Thursday there was a pop of pink peeking out of Oxford Police uniforms.

“This is the first year we’ve done this,” said Oxford Police Major Jeff McCutchen.

In October, the month sports teams and other organizations sport pink for breast cancer awareness, officers wanted to show their support too.

“Why not law enforcement, who is a group that is seen in the public constantly? Why not be a part of that?” McCutchen asked.

A company donated pink undershirts, and Oxford Police sent out a memo to officers to wear them all month long.

“It’s always wonderful when you see, sort of, something considered to be hyper masculine, as in like football, supporting women and breast cancer. So, that’s wonderful,” said resident Amie Irwin.

Oxford Police said they have received positive feedback from breast cancer survivors on Twitter.
