Part of Third Street to be named after B.B. King

BB King is one of the many artists that will be featured in the National Museum of African American Music when it opens in Nashville, Tennessee.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Land Use Control Board has voted to name part of Third Street after B.B. King.

The section from Crump north to Jackson will carry the name of the late blues legend.

This means B.B. King  Boulevard will cross Beale Street, a place King knew well and which houses his namesake club.

There are two weeks for people to oppose the change.

King died May 14 in home hospice care in Las Vegas.

His death was ruled due to Alzheimer’s disease a with other significant contributing factors.
