MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police said one person was killed early Monday morning after being hit by a train in South Memphis.

The person was reportedly in the area of Castalia and Lowell when they were hit by a train around 7:30 a.m. The individual was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Authorities did not identify the person or say whether they think it was an accident or not.
