DUBLIN — Perrigo issued a voluntary recall for dosing concerns associated with its children’s cough medicine.
According to a news release, two batches of children’s guaifenesin grape liquid and three batches of the children’s guaifenesin DM cherry liquid were potentially packaged with dosage cups that have incorrect markings.
Both flavors are distributed throughout the United States.
The company sells store brand products at some places that are popular in the mid-south like Kroger, Rite-Aid, CVS, and Dollar General.
If you bought one of the affected products, the company said you should throw it away immediately.
Dr. Patrick Ball with Baptist Medical Group said dosage measurements are very important.
Dr. Ball said children who ingest too much guaifenesin can exhibit symptoms like, “lethargy, tiredness, possibly coma, unresponsive, decreased breathing, irregular heart rate.”
