MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have asked for the public’s help locating a local man wanted for first-degree murder.

According to the agency, Officers were called to the Regional Medical Center after a stabbing victim was brought in by private vehicle on Tuesday.

A witness told investigators 20-year-old Markle Polk had been stabbed in the 700 block of Carpenter street just after 11 p.m.

Polk later died at the hospital.

During the course of the investigation, Officers discovered the victim had been trying to protect a woman who was involved in a fight with another man.

Polk tried to intervene and the suspect pulled out and knife and stabbed him.

That suspect was later identified as 35-year-old Larry Lurry.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Lurry, and if you see him contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
