MEMPHIS, TN – Police said a  man wanted for the stabbings of two gas station clerks for more than a year is now behind bars.

Ladarion Murrell, 22, is facing a slew of charges, included attempted first degree murder and especially aggravated robbery.

Police told WREG on October 18, 2014, he stabbed a clerk in the back of the neck at the Mapco in the 900 block of Crump in South Memphis and took $67 from the cash register.

Investigators said he returned to the same gas station three days later and stabbed a different clerk 14 times in the head, nose, face and abdomen and took $155.

The clerk, who identified Murrell as his attacker,  told officers Murrell was laughing when he did it and that Murrell told him he was going to kill him.

At the time of the robberies, Murrell was out of jail on $50,000 bond for shooting a man several times in October of 2013.

Marcus Cartwright told police he was walking in the 1400 block of Kansas when he saw two men fighting.  Cartwright said he tried to stop Murrell from beating another man when Murrell shot him.

Cartwright’s father said he knew Murrell had jumped his bail and that police were looking for him.

Murrell is now being held on  $2 million bond.
