JACKSON, Miss. — A man from Jackson is behind bars, accused of beating his nephew over a slice of pizza.
According to WLBT, police were called to a home Monday evening after receiving a call from the child’s grandmother.
She told investigators the boy’s uncle beat him over a slice of pizza.
As of Tuesday evening, the 13-year-old was still being treated at a hospital in Jackson.
The boy’s uncle, 27-year-old Ryan Tripp, fled the scene but was eventually captured by police.
His bond was set at $20,000.
Tripp was charged with felony child abuse.
