Police continue searching for answers in local businessman’s death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for new leads after a deadly summer shooting in Midtown.

Local businessman and philanthropist Glenn Cofield was shot and killed June 7 near a church along East Parkway North. Detectives believe he fell victim to a robbery.

In the months since his murder, police haven’t been able to find the killer.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in passing along information relative to this murder,” MPD LT. Anthony Mullins said. “We have received some information, and we thank those who have called in these tips.”

Investigators went into the community last week to draw attention to the case.

The only description police have released of the suspect is that he was wearing a hoodie at the time of the incident and drove off in a dark-colored car after the shooting.

A $26,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
