MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspect is wanted after shooting at a couple Sunday evening on East Shelby Drive and Hacks Cross Road.

A man and a woman are in the hospital with more questions than answers as police look for a gunman.

A couple’s car crash is more than meets the eye after deputies found them suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.

Deputies say a man driving a black Nissan fired a round of bullets at a couple in a red pick up truck.

Investigators say it looks like it could be road rage.

The shooting occurred after some sort of altercation between the couple and the other driver. Both the man and the woman were injured.

“There were like three Sheriff cars and some undercover cars,” said Ahmed Alfreahat, gas station employee.

Alfreahat works at the gas station closest to the scene of the shooting and the crash. He says people had to cut through the store parking lot – leaving customers inside curious about what the commotion was all about.

“They cut off the street. So people had to come through the gas station to pass,” said Alfreahat.

After the couple was shot, the female driver lost control of the car and crashed the vehicle.

The male victim was transported to Germantown Methodist and the female victim was transported to the Med.

Both victims are currently in stable condition.

The driver of the black Nissan fled the scene.

No suspect has been arrested yet.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (901)-528-CASH.
