MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A teen was rushed to the Regional Medical Center early Friday morning after being shot in Whitehaven, police said. The teen is going to be okay, but now police say he’s been charged in that same shooting.

Surveillance cameras were rolling around 3 a.m. Friday at the Memory Lane Inn & Suites at 3524 Elvis Presley when three males entered a room. Seconds later, all three ran out of the room and fled northbound on Elvis Presley, with one of them falling as he tried to escape.

Bullet holes were later found in the walls of the room.

It’s believed that the same suspects ran to the Fill-N-Save gas station at 1341 Winchester, where they called 911 for a 15-year-old who had reportedly been shot in the back. The other suspects took off before police arrived.

The injured teen was taken to to the Regional Medical Center, and he’s expected to be okay.

He told investigators his sister let them all in the room and that after entering the hotel room, “they asked for a WiFi box and started shooting inside the room.” However, he doesn’t explain who exactly fired shots.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. Police say two people were detained on scene, but no arrests have been made.
