Police: Juvenile shot after man fires into stolen car

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A juvenile was wounded in a South Memphis shooting, and police have the suspect in custody.

Memphis Fire alerted police shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday when a victim with two gunshot wounds showed up in the 200 block of Danny Thomas Boulevard.

Police learned the victim was “riding with his buddies” and pulled into the Shell station at 3rd Street and McLemore Avenue. That’s when a suspect unknown to him shot him.

The victim was transported to Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but he is no longer critical, police said.

Officers arrived at the Shell station on a call about a recovered stolen vehicle and shots fired. Willis Lee, 33, told police he found his stolen vehicle, and investigators learned he fired the shots into the car.

Police found the weapon at the scene.

Lee is charged with aggravated assault.
