Taryn Fields

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department confirms a City Watch alert for Taryn Fields has been cancelled after she was found alive.

MPD spokesman Louis Brownlee confirms Fields was seen in the Memphis area and refuses to speak with officers due to her having two active felony warrants for robbery and theft in Fort Smith, AR.

Fields was reported missing after she was allegedly kidnapped Monday afternoon.

A witness told police the victim was being chased by a man – later identified as Eric Wells – in a gold Honda Accord. Fields allegedly lost control of her Camry and struck a pole at Brooks Road and Hilda.

Eric Wells

That’s when Wells jumped out of the car, assaulted Fields and then forced her into his car.

Brownlee says Fields and Wells are known acquaintances.

This is an ongoing investigation.
