MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local man appeared in court on Tuesday after police said he tried to murder his own brother in cold blood.

On Monday, the victim was coming home from a nearby store when his brother, Darryl Coleman,  told him to follow him into the woods.

The victim told police, Coleman said he wanted to show him something.

When they reached a certain point, Coleman pointed to a pile of sticks and told his brother to look under them.

Not hesitating, the brother did as he was told.

When he went to stand back up, that’s when Coleman reportedly attacked.

He pulled out a butcher knife and lunged for his brother’s throat.

The victim was able to grab the knife and get it away from Coleman, but not before getting knicked in the throat.

He also sustained minor cuts to his hands during the scuffle.

It’s unclear what happened next, but somehow the brother was able to get away and call police.

Investigators said they found Coleman later that day at Grandview Heights Elementary, with several cuts to his hands.

He still even had the knife used in the attack on him.

He was arrested at the school.

Coleman’s bond was set at $75,000 and he was ordered to report back to court on December 16.
