MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man died after he was shot in the 2500 block of Lamar Avenue in Orange Mound on Thursday, according to the Memphis Police Department.

The victim was transported to Regional One Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police centered their investigation around a tire shop near Lamar and Barron, but it’s unclear if the shooting took place inside the gas station.

Detectives spent Thursday afternoon on the scene.

People in the area heard what sounded like several gunshots.
