MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are searching for two young suspects after they allegedly opened fire on a man and stole his car behind Hamilton High School.
The incident reportedly happened Friday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.
Terence Robinson said he was parked in the shade next to the baseball field when two individuals roughly 15 to 18 years of age approached him. They asked him what he was doing and then pulled out a gun.
“Asked me to get out of the car, I got out of the car took 10-15 steps back,” said Robinson. “That was enough distance for him to get in the car and pull off. Before he got in the car, he fired two shots.”
One bullet hit Robinson in his arm.
Both suspects got into the victim’s Toyota Camry and took off. The vehicle was later recovered at an abandoned house on Lycheum.
Robinson said he coaches baseball and basketball at Hamilton High.
Authorities said they found several shell casings at the original scene.
“Over the weekend it really hit me. My family could have been planning a funeral today,” said Robinson. “Still shaking from the fact I’m 40 years old and I never thought I would be a victim of gun violence.”
