(MEMPHIS) 45-year old Calvin Taylor, a Memphis Police Officer was rushed to the MED after he was shot in the leg during the afternoon drug raid.
Officers forced entry into the residence and said they were attacked by three pit bull dogs
The officers inside used a shotgun on the dogs. Somehow the pellets came through the door and struck Officer Taylor who was standing in the yard.
“Before we could see any of that, all this was blocked off, everything” said Mia Rodriguez, a neighbor. “We couldn’t even get down there to see it before it all happened. Police were here like that.”
Family members told us this wasn’t the only raid that happened today there was another one at another home that went down at the exact same time. They said they didn’t know exactly why police wanted in their homes.
This isn’t the first instance of officers executing warrants, encountering animals and officers getting shot. Police Director Toney Armstrong says it just part of the job.
“All search warrants are dangerous there are no routines. You never know what you’re going to face on other side of that door”, said Armstrong.
