(Memphis) Friends and family continue to search for a missing Frayser elementary school teacher.
Germantown Police executed a search warrant on the home of Heather Palumbo-Jones estranged husband Chris Jones.
A note was stuck to his door which said the locks had been changed because police executed a search warrant.
Heather has been missing since Monday evening.
We know now the two had a tumultuous relationship.
They’re living separately and both filed for divorce from each other.
Palumbo first filed in January, then Jones in March.
Also in January, Palumbo filed for a restraining order against Jones, but it was dropped when she didn’t show up to court.
The divorce papers show the two were fighting for custody of their two children.
We received an email from a man who calls himself a friend of Heather’s for the last twenty years.
It said, “I was on the phone with heather the night she went missing. Chris was there…”
Police say Chris, at this point, hasn’t been named a suspect in her disappearance.
“Definitely heavy hearts,” said Elliot Smalley, the chief of staff for the Achievement School District.
As police search for Palumbo, the children she teaches at Frayser elementary are having to go on without her.
“Kindergarten students are so young. So what we`ve done is communicated with the parents,” said Smalley. “That’s what happened yesterday. Parents got a letter just updating them, letting them know we are here as a support.”
Germantown police spent Wednesday combing areas next to Palumbo’s house but Thursday responded mostly to tips taking them all over the city.
They tell News Channel 3 Palumbo’s young son and daughter are staying with family members, not with her estranged husband.
