MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirms police are searching for a 9-year-old girl who was kidnapped during drop-off at Northaven Elementary School in the 5100 block of Circle Road. Zamyriah White was reported missing Tuesday after her father, Brenton White, snatched her from her mother’s vehicle while they were waiting in the drop-off line at 8:30 a.m. Police say the victim’s father has multiple felony warrants and has made threats to harm himself. Officers believe Zamyriah is endangered due to the threats the suspect made. A search of his criminal record shows he’s been in trouble for at least the last decade. He was busted at his Northaven home in 2008 for allegedly grabbing and hitting his live-in girlfriend in the chest to stop her from leaving. The next year he was booked on a theft charge after Memphis police say he pawned a $1,300 rental television for $400 at a pawn shop in north Memphis. Deputies say he was last known to be living in Tipton County, but the have no idea where he might be now. Brenton was seen leaving the school in a 2017 white four-door Nissan Sentra. The license plate is 7ZCAO62. Zamyriah was wearing a pink sweater, a baby blue shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers when she was last seen.
