Police Seize Ton of Marijuana

(Memphis) Police believe they’ve busted a source that sells much of the marijuana in Memphis.

Four people are in custody after more than 2,100 pounds of marijuana was found in a North Memphis home.

The street value is estimated at $2 million.

“It was an extremely bad day for the bad guys,” said Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong.

Authorities say all that marijuana took-up two bedrooms and hallway inside of the Reenie Street house.

“I feel it’s safe to say that we finally got the source,” said Armstrong.

Armstrong says his Organized Crime Unit got a tip Sunday about a large delivery of narcotics coming to town and after a surveillance operation.

Authorities executed a search warrant April 1and discovered all of the pot inside the house, including $170,000 in cash.

“It’s a cat and mouse game and on this particular day we won,” said Armstrong.

Neighbors across the road on Reenie St. say they never noticed anything unusual except that the house brought-in a lot of out-of-town guests that had cars with license plates from places like Kansas and Illinois.

Arrested were Gabriel Diaz 24, Aramis Diaz Jr. 36, Armando Sauceda 37 and Rene Hernandez 36, all four (4) subjects were charged with a felony charge of manufacture/deliver/sell control substance to wit: marijuana.

After the four people have their day in court, Armstrong says all the marijuana will be incinerated.
