MEMPHIS, Tenn. –More information has been released about an incident Thursday evening in which five men tried to rob Longview Middle School.

According to Police reports, officers responded to a robbery call from the 1800 block of South Orleans street.

When they arrived, a witness told investigators there were several men loading lockers from inside the school into the back of a white Chevy pickup truck.

As they drove up to the school, 70-year-old J White and 33-year-old Cortez Collins walked towards them with their hands up.

Collins simply told police they were looking to make a little extra cash to support his pregnant wife.

At that moment, another man, Charlie Bell, walked out of the school and fled when he saw police.

The suspect was taken into custody.

Hearing there were others still inside, Officers called in K-9 units to conduct a search of the school.

That’s when they found two juveniles, one 17 and the other 13-years-old.

All of the men were taken into custody and charged with one count each of burglary, possession of burglary tools and theft of property over $500.

The pickup truck they were using to haul the lockers away in was taken to the city impound.
