Police: 3 masked men rob, carjack man at Parkway Village apartment complex

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department is searching for three suspects who robbed and carjacked a man at gunpoint at an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Winchester Road in Parkway Village early Sunday morning.

Investigators say a man stopped at the Pinebrook Pointe Apartments to visit a friend around 3 a.m., when another car pulled up behind him and a masked man got out, pointed a rifle at him and demanded his car and money.

“It’s a dangerous area,” one man, who didn’t want his name used, told WREG. “A lot of stuff happens over here.”

The man’s girlfriend lives at the complex. He says the crime is what makes him not want to visit.

Staring down the barrel of a gun, police say, the victim gave up his keys, but the thief wasn’t working alone. Investigators say he had two friends with him, who were also hiding their faces behind masks.

Those two suspects got into the victim’s car and took off. The first criminal got back into the other car and followed closely behind.

“It’s a big surprise,” neighbor James Stanley said. “I’ve never heard about anything going on like that.”

Police say the suspects headed west on Winchester Road after taking off.

The victim is now without a car but, fortunately, has his life.

Stanley tells WREG he hasn’t had any issues in the three years he’s lived there.

“It’s pretty quiet over here,” he said.

But he said he’s always ready if trouble comes looking for him.

“I stay alert, and, plus, I have my dog and I’m armed,” Stanley says. “I’d let them have it.”

Police are still looking for that stolen car. It’s a grey 2014 Nissan Altima with Tennessee tags 8F30W9.

If you spot it, you can call in an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.

Police don’t know the make or model of the robbers’ car, just that it was a white four-door sedan.
