UPDATE: MPD confirms child still alive after wreck after father comes forward

UPDATE: Memphis Police and family members reported that the child died. Thursday, the child’s father disputed that, saying the boy was alive. MPD confirmed that the child had been revived.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A three-year-old child who was reported as being dead by the Memphis Police Department after being hit by a car is still alive, the agency said.


On Thursday, the child’s father told WREG the child was still receiving treatment at at local hospital. When questioned by the media, authorities confirmed that the child was in fact still alive despite their initial reports that he was dead after a car accident in the 2700 block of Rangeline.

The driver involved remained on the scene.
