HORN LAKE, Miss. — A manhunt is underway for the suspects who robbed two Little Caesars Pizza stores in Mississippi.
Police have confirmed the two robberies– one in Batesville and the other in Horn Lake– were committed by the same masked gunmen.
According to Roshunda Windfield, four women were working the Batesville store when the men, armed with an assault rifle and pistols, stormed the building.
“I’m about the only one (that) didn’t shed a tear. I’m concerned about everybody. I’m trying to get a good look at ‘em,” she told WREG.
The suspects put guns to their heads and ordered them to the ground, then back up again. That’s when one employee was attacked.
“When he told her to get to the floor, I guess she wasn’t getting down fast enough. He snatched the headsets off her head.”
When the employees couldn’t open the safe, the crooks emptied the cash drawers.
“I was trying to open up the cash register as quick as I could, but the manager had to help me ‘cause I was so nervous,” recalled Windfield.
That’s when one of the gunmen reportedly put his gun to one of the employee’s head and began counting down.
“He was like, ‘5,4,3,2,1.”
Right at that moment, Windfield said a customer pulled up at the drive thru, scaring the robbers away.
But that wasn’t the end of their crime spree. Three hours later, the same men hit the Little Caesars Pizza location in the 3400 block of Goodman Road in Horn Lake.
The assistant manager of that location, Elvis, was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center after he was shot.
Tamika Allen told WREG’s Luke Jones she spent much of Wednesday evening in tears after learning of the shooting.
“He’s the most outspoken, friendly man I’ve met thus far,” she said. “Been praying for him that he pulls through 100 percent ‘cause this shouldn’t happen to anybody.”
Horn Lake Police told WREG Elvis was still in critical condition as of Thursday morning.
Police are now looking for a 2015 or 2017 Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, silver or pewter in color.
